Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch #1

Hi There!

I picked up some yummy Kaisercraft 'Charlotte's Dream' from my LSS Scrapbook Sinners & thought I would have a play at one of the Kaisercraft Saturday Sketches. I chose sketch #1 cos I liked all the layers!

Here is my page
Based on this sketch

I luv the colours of this collection with the brown, peach & teal. I traced the die cut paper of this collection onto the brown brocade sheet then handstitched a border around the edge
I added some Kaisercraft roses, Prima flowers & bling & some Prima canvas resist pieces of branch. I tried to keep this page simple as the clours were fairly strong so I didn't want the page to look too busy.

I luv this pic of Kayla. She has the craziest fine hair that is half straight & half curly & it always sits out in a big mess! She tries so hard to keep it under control with her huge array of head bands. I think a haircut is on the cards soon!

While I had some Kaisercraft out I also made this Easel Card for my Best Bud Nelle's birthday. I will post a tutorial on our to make an Easel card very soon.

I have used a combination of Charlotte's Dream with Bonjour. The chippie frame, Rub on & flowers are Kaisercraft & the lace is Melissa Frances.

I just wanted to share a pic of Kayla all dressed up to go to her ballet party last week. I can't believe how grown up & beautiful she looks in this photo!

The other day I was extremely surprised & excited to find this post on the Websters Pages blog. Thanks Websters for making my week!!

Thanks for looking!

My Creative Sketches April Reveal

Hi There!

Happy 4th Birthday to my gorgeous girl Kayla! She just celebrated her birthday on the 18th & we had a very cute ballet party for her (so many cute photos to scrap!!)

The sketch for April is up at My Creative Sketches ! This months FAB sketch was created by Tony Rangel based on a page created by the ever so sweet Romy Vuel. Lot's of layers & spot to embellish. LUV it!!

& as always Pam has the best prize up for grabs

Here is my take on the sketch

I have used the MCS March LE Kit which was full of MME Follow your heart (totally luv this collection!) I have layered soem fussy cut doilies with some trime , lace & punched borders. The bling is Zva creative

MME layered stickers gave such great depth. The blooms are Prima & the border punch is Fiskars
I also wanted to share one of the projects I had made for the Graphic 45 DT call

I have decorated the very cute Prima canvas banner with some G45 Once Upon A Springtime & Little Darlings, crinkle ribbon, Prima buttons & flowers & MFT & Spellbinders dies
The butterfly chippie is imaginarium designs. The Alphabet chippies are from my local scrapbook shop Scrapbook Sinners

(PS can we all pretend that the paintwork on my fence isn't so bad LOL! We live in a 87 yo home which needs a bit of renovating. We are working from the backyard forward so the poor ols fence will be last!)

Lastly I just wanted to share a few more features (sorry I feel so boasty when I give a toot but I get so excited that I have to share!)

I was the lucky winner of the March Scrap The Boys challenge.
My WP LO was featured at Websters Pages here
& another LO was place on the watch list at CSI ColorStoriesInspiration

Yikes a long post. Congrats if u got to the end!

Thanks for looking!

Home Away From Home

Hi There!

If you are looking for my giveaway check it our here!

Firstly I would just like to toot a little! My page was featured at The Color Room!!! Check out the link to see my page on the feature wall! It was the first time I had played in a TCR challenge. I have always admired the DT pages & there are always so many gorgeous entries that I always felt a bit intimidated to give it a try! So you can imagine how surprised & excited I was to have my page featured!!
I was also the March challenge winner over at Scrap The Girls!! Thanks so much to the DT for their votes & awesome prize!

Once Upon A Sketch is celebrating it's first birthday! I have been playing over at OUAS since Nadia first created this great site. I haven't had a chance to play for a while but really wanted to participate in this special sketch! The theme is Home. I interperated this into "Home away from home". we have just bought a van at a little beach called Marlo. It is a bout 2.5 hours from home but we love to travel up there as much as we can. It is so peaceful, we really don't do a lot. Just fishing, swimming, afternoon naps & enjoying the sun!

Here is my page
(I didn't realise my 'e' had slipped down sorry girls!)

This is the sketch my page is based on designed by Nadia

The journalling is rolled around this spool. I wanted it to look like a bouy floating in the water. In my haste to photograph this (& attend a screaming 1 year old!) I forgot to photograph the journalling pulled out. My journalling talks about how our van in Marlo is our home away from home & how much we enjoy going up there.
The papers are Websters Pages Everyday Poetry with a little bit of Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings. The flowers are Prima (of course!). I have also used some Pink Paislee ephemera.

To add some texture to my page I have dry brushed some gesso. I then used a makeup sponge & dabbed a few areas to get a thicker texture. I sprinkled some micro beads onto these thicker areas. The micro beads reminded me of grains of sand!
Well the screaming1 year old is at it again so better go!

Thankyou to all my followers & to everyone that leaves comments. It means a lot to me. Your love & support Rurly & Truly means the world XX

This LO is my first crack at The color room. I have always admired the colour palettes & the inspiration on this site is amazing!

I have used a mix of Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings with Websters Pages Everyday Poetry. The border is a Prima flourish stamp. I used my new Cheery Lyn doily die (my new fav product. It rocks!!) All flowers are Prima. The chipboard title is from Scrap FX
Luv these Prima Vintage trinket flowers
To alter the chipboard title firstly I painted with gesso. Then I sprayed a gold glimmermist lightly over the top. I used a prima ink coltsfoot stemens which I just randomly sponged to get the darker yellow colour

This next LO is for CSI-colorstoriesinspiration. This is a relitively new challenge site which is lots of fun. Here is the current 'case'

In addition to the colour combo you also need to include at least 2 criteria from the evidence section & at least 1 from the testimony. I chose ruffles, animal accent & creating waves from evidence & a haiku & footprints from testimony
The paper is Websters Pages Everyday Poetry collection & Prima pixie Glen.
The haiku comes from some Kaisercraft paper from the pink gelato collection
I don't know who wrote this haiku but it is pretty popular & I am sure you have heard it before.
The Websters bloomer is my ruffle & the pattern of lace is my waves effect. The gorgeous pink bloom is by Melissa Frances

Well I hope u will join in my giveaway!

Scrapz.Biz Baby Month

Hi There!

It's Baby Month over at Scrapz.Biz. Come & join in the fun with a different baby themed challenge every week day for the whole of April!

This was my first project for Baby Month. Find the challenge Here. I chose to base a challenge around those ugly/not so perfect photos that I know we all have stashed away in the photo box! Sometimes scrapping a photo that doesn't look pretty is a hard task but it is so important to include these photos in our albums to tell the whole story!

Here are a few tips on scrapping those not so perfect pics

1. My fav trick is to use smaller photos rather than a 6X4. I usually use 2X3 photos & put 2 photos on the page to keep it balanced. I also like to edit the pic to Black & White so that they don't stand out as much

2. Use bold patterns or colours to distract the eye. I would recommend using a more neutral background & use the patterns in smaller pieces around the page to help keep balance to the page

3. Use clusters of embellies as a focal point. That way there is more to focus on the page than just the photo
The challenge is to use at last 1 ugly/not so perfect pic along with at least 3 different patterns of paper & 2 clusters of embellishments. You have until April 30 to upload your entry so there is plenty of time!

This next LO was from my Scrap It Blind Challenge last month

& this page was from a Base Jump challenge from 2 months ago ( I forgot to put it up earlier!)

Look out for a giveaway in my next post! I am celebrating my 100th post & have some yummy goodies for you to win!!

Thanks for looking!
Cheers
